The Bluesky Star Trek Card Bot

The Star Trek Collectable Card Game

One thing I really enjoy is people and communities that are really passionate about their interest. I recently discovered such a community. While watching an episode of DS9 I suddenly remembered the collectable card game from my youth. After a quick search I was able to find my old box of the cards and began to look them up on the internet.

To my surprise I found there are people still playing even though the game went out of print in 2007. The Continuing Committee is still keeping the game alive to this day. A group of passionate fans who maintain and update the rules, host tournaments and even release new cards.

Since the game has been out of print since 2007, it's allowed, and encouraged to print your own cards. This makes it one of the more accessible cards games that can be played. As luck would have it, there was a local tournament that very weekend! So I dusted off my printer, made some cards, and gave it a go.

It was a great time. A wonderful group of people, open to teaching and bringing new people into the fold. If you like cards games, you should give it a try. There is also an active online community. The means of playing online currently aren't great, but are possible.

To spread the good word about the game and community I made a bot for Bluesky that will post all 6300+ cards. It currently posts every 3 hour, so it will still take a little over 2 years to get through all cards. Follow the bot to check out cards and get involved in some games!
